Press release CARDIOLOGIST-INVENTOR HONORED BY RUSSIAN CARDIOVASCULAR CENTER Posted August, 25, 2005 Chicago,
Illinois - Cardiologist Lee Frazin, M.D., a member of the
Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center medical staff and
Assistant Professor, Northwestern University School of
Medicine, was honored by the Russian Chapter of the
International Society of Cardiovascular Ultrasound (RCISCU),
for his direction of a course on Transesophageal
Echocardiography (TEE) in July at Tyumen Cardiology Center,
Siberia. The course, the first course on TEE ever offered in
Russia, was a mixture of lectures and live case performances
with English-Russian translation provided. Dr. Frazin
was invited to lead the two-day course because he invented
Transesophageal Echocardiography, a method of imaging internal
organs and vascular structures through the gastrointestinal
wall. Medical scientists from all over the world now generally
acknowledge TEE as a diagnostic tool. Dr. Frazin was joined by
two prominent United States experts in echocardiography,
Professor Robert Siegel, M.D., (Los Angeles) and John Erikson,
M.D., (San Antonio, Texas) along with Vadim A. Kuznetsov,
M.D., Professor of Cardiology, Chairman of RCISCU and Director
of the Tyumen Cardiology Center. In his
welcoming address to the Russian scientists, physicians and
technicians attending the Tyumen Cardiology Center course, Dr.
Frazin said: “Living with TEE from its humble beginnings to
its international development, to the sophisticated diagnostic
tool that it is today, has been a personal experience for
which I feel very fortunate.” Dr.
Frazin, who owns seven patents for his innovations in
medicine, is the author of multiple scientific works,
editorials, articles and abstracts. As an invited lecturer, he
has taken part in more than 50 conferences, congresses and
symposia in the United States and abroad. He is a referee for
several scientific journals including the Journal of the
American College of Cardiology, Journal of Critical Care,
Catheterization and Cardiovascular Diagnosis, Journal of
American Society of Echocardiography, Circulation and
Echocardiography. Dr. Frazin is a member of the American Federation of Clinical Research, American Society of Echocardiography, International Society of Echocardiography and the American College of Cardiology.
